Doodle Pantry Bluejay - S & S Sketch #116

Living in Michigan we see Bluejays all year around and they are always a sight to behold. We have a bird feeder right out of our dinning room window, which doubles as my card making area, and I really enjoy seeing these beautiful creatures - especially in the winter against the white snow.  That is where this Doodle Pantry set takes me.

Bluejay is brand new this month (April)over at Doodle Pantry Digital Doodles.    It comes in both the outline and colored version with several nice sentiments and two great background papers, which I plan to use soon.  All of the cardstock is from Stampin' Up! and the black accents are Viva Pearl Pen.  The dry embossing is done with the Cuttlebug, as are the circles.  This card is on it's way overseas in my latest Operation Write Home box.

Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Blog Sketch #116 was the inspiration behind this layout.  It is such a wonderfully versitile sketch I am sure to be using it again soon.

S & S Sketch #44 & Midweek Throwdown Challenge

One of my biggest challenges as a card maker is coloring...I think I honestly just don't have the patience for it.  Besides, my BFF (and favorite stamping buddy) is awesome at watercoloring and she LOVES it so why not just let her do it for me?  Hey, what a great idea!!!

Lucy watercolored this adorable Doodle Pantry image, aptly called "Gummy Worms," (which is a new FREEBIE by the way!) using Stampin' Up! Watercolor Crayons and Pencils in various shades.  The background paper is included in the set and is layered with Stampin' Up! Brilliant Blue and accented with Daffodil Delight that I dry embossed with my Cuttlebug.  I love a good pun and this one certainly fits the bill.

For this card I used the S & S Sketch #44 for inspiration.  The best thing about using digital stamps is the ability to adjust the image size to exactly what I need - so picking a sketch first is a big help in getting the mojo flowing.  Here is the sketch:

These adorable little gummies also meet this week's Midweek Throwdown - Sweet Summertime and this card has been added to my Operation Write Home box that will be shipped out in the next few days.  It is unusual for me to send a single version of a card but this one is the only one of it's kind!

Happy Stamping and God's Richest Blessings,

Lisa

P.S.  Lucy doesn't have a blog so please feel free to leave her some words of encouragement here.  Thanks!

S & S Sketch #117

Wow!  I have actually made a card using the current S & S Sketch!  It has truly been awhile since that has happened but I hope to get back on track soon.

Today's card was made using the Doodle Pantry set called Super Birdie.  I was first drawn to this set because of the patriotic theme but now I love it because of it's versitility.  I chose to use the precolored birdie but of course this adorable image also comes in outline format for the coloring enthusiasts out there (you know who you are!) This set also includes the matching background paper and an unusual number of coordinating sentiments - 9 in all.  If you are new to Doodle Pantry I hope you will take a minute to check it out.  Right now, through April 24th, Doodle Pantry is offering 25% off of your entire order when you use the coupon code NOFOOLING.

Here is the sketch I used for inspiration, S & S Sketch #117:

I made six of these cards to go into my Operation Write Home box.  I have to be honest I debated about sending them in because they look like the type of card a child would give to a Dad but after thinking about it I realized that it is also a card that a female hero could send home to her husband who is stateside caring for their children while she is overseas.  What do you think?  Is it "ok" for OWH?

Doodle Pantry Cupcake Ants - S&S Sketch #56

Here is another card from my card making vacation.  I have had my eye on this adorable set for several weeks so when my friend asked for some kid's birthday cards I immediately thought of Doodle Pantry's Cupcake Ants....and when I showed her the images she loved them too.

I've said it before but I have to say again...I love how easy it is to match up my Doodle Pantry pre-colored images with Stampin' Up! card stock.   For this card I used SU! Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, and Basic Black.  The black dots are my new favorite embelishment called Viva Pearl Pen. Although it is difficult to see from this photo I also used dimensional mounting tape to pop up the focal image.  I almost forgot...I used my Score Pal to make the diagonal pattern then used the sponged Tempting Turquoise ink lightly over it to emphasize the raised lines.

The sketch I used to create this card was S & S Sketch #56 (cha-ching!)

There is still time to join in with the Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge (the only reqirement is to use a Doodle Pantry image on your card) and you will receive a DP digital set absolutely FREE!  This month's set is called Quirky Parrot and comes in both colored and outlined images.   Check it out and get creating!

S & S Midweek Throwdown Challenge - Thinking of You

Happy Easter everyone!  It has been a wonderful week of card making and relaxation.  I am sorry that I was unable to post updates on my projects but I wasn't able to take my laptop with me and the one I was borrowing just wasn't cooperating with me.  I hope to post several cards over the next few days though and I hope you will come back again and find some inspiration.

The S & S Midweek Throwdown Challenge this week is to make "Thinking of You" cards for our troops to send home to their friends and loved ones back in the States.

I made this card with that theme in mind using Stampin' Up! (SU!) Garden Silhouettes.  I stamped the image and words with Stazon Ink and then sponged SU! More Mustard and SU! Really Rust for the sunset effect.  I layered it with Black and Really Rust card stock and then attached it with dimensional mounting tape onto white card stock.  I also decorated the envelope to match as I like to do whenever possible.

Thanks for stopping by today and for leaving me a comment to let me know you were here.

Happy Stamping and God's Richest Blessings,

Lisa

Doodle Pantry Quirky Parrot - New Release Day!

Happy April Everyone!  I love April....because it means a week off school/work and a trip to my 'happy place' in Butler, PA.  It is a semi-annual trip to stay with my BFF's Mom who pampers us while we totally consume her dinning room with our stamps, inks, paper, and embellishments....pure heaven for a whole week!  No fooling (pun intended) today is day 1 of 7 and I have an bright and cheerful card to launch this week's card making extravaganza...

Today is new release day over at Doodle Pantry Digital Doodle and this charming parrot is one of three included in Quirky Parrot. I colored this image myself using Stampin' Up! markers and I love how the bright colors coordinate so well with the two background papers - which are also included with the set, by the way.  The set comes in outline (which I used) and pre-colored images as well as some very cute sentiments.  I can't help but think of the parrot on Disney's movie "Aladin"...I hear his voice every time I see these adorable parrots.

The best news about the Quirky Parrot set....it is absolutely FREE until April 24, 2012 for every one who submits a card on the Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge.   The DPDC challenge is always an "Anything Goes" type challenge with the only requirement being that you use a Doodle Pantry image.  Don't have any?  No problem!  There are plenty of FREEBIES to chose from on the Doodle Pantry Freebie page.

Well...I am off to make some cards!  I have an order for 40+ cards to get going on and I plan to make some duplicates to add to my Operation Write Home box as well.

Happy Stamping and God's Richest Blessings,

Lisa
