Frosty Kisses on Sketch #38

Christmas in July continues as I try to beat the heat making winter themed cards!  I am working toward filling a large flat rate priority box for Operation Write Home's Early Bird Card Challenge to help our shippers get a head start on the winter/Christmas rush.  I liked this card enough to make 24 total for the  box!  Yay me!

This adorable snowlady is from the July new releases over at Doodle Pantry called Quirky Snowmen.  The set includes 3 different snowpeople with corresponding sentiments.  I chose to use the digitally colored version (thanks Laurie!) but they all come in outline form for those of you who like to customize your images.  The patterned paper is included in the set and I just love how Laurie used a similar pattern in the hat and scarf so it actually looks like I paper pieced it!  (wink wink) I don't normally post such a large picture but I wanted you to be able to see the shine of Glossy Accents that I added to her nose, twigs, and buttons - it really does add some dimension in real life.

As many of you know it has been my goal for 2012 to use all of the Operation Write Home sketches and this one is Sketch #38.  I have found that deciding what sketch to use before I print my images really helps me to be able to size them to fit the sketch and thus make the best use of my ink and cardstock.  Love that!

Here is the sketch:

So glad you took the time to stop in...your comments are always welcomed!

OWH Sketch #124 with Doodle Pantry Snowball Ants

Here we are in the middle of July, the anticipated temp today in Mid-Michigan will be a record high 99 degrees, and I am making WINTER cards for Operation Write Home!  At first I found this really odd but once I started rolling with it I was suprised that it really did help to take my mind off the July heat and thinking about cooler temps and snow showers (not such a bad thought today but very discouraging in January and February I must say!)

My card today was inspired by a combination of  OWH Sketch #124 (see below) and one of the July new releases from Doodle Pantry called Snowball Ants.  I must admit that I am not a computer geru by any stretch of the imagination but I did find it very easy to manipulate the .pgn files (with Microsoft Word) in this adorable set to come up with my own unique focal image.

The ants and the shading around the snowballs were precolored digitally by the creator (Laurie Wilson) but the blue sponging around the edges was added by me.  The snowflake embossing was done with a Cuttlebug folder.  I did pop the focal image with dimensional tape but it is difficult to see in this photo.

Here is the OWH Sketch #124 I used:

USA Birdie - Patriotism is not limited to July 4th!

Hello Everyone!  At first it seemed odd to me to be posting a patriotic card just a week after July 4th (as if I am posting it late) but as an Operation Write Home cardmaker I KNOW that Patriotism is NOT limited to July 4th!  Can I get a witness?!?

This card was inspired by the adorable birdie (from the Doodle Pantry USA Birdie set) that I had printed, fussy cut, layered with Night of Navy, and fussy cut again.  I had indended to use him on the thigh of the swim trunks that I posted a few weeks ago but he turned out to be too big for that so I set to work determined to use him because he is so stinkin' cute and I had already expended so much energy into getting him to this point!  And, I have to say, I really like the final result.  The designer paper is from the Doodle Pantry Stars & Stripes Paper Pack.

Happy Stamping and God's Richest Blessings,

S & S Midweek Throwdown - Monkey Challenge

It's Tuesday evening and I am getting my card in for the Midweek Throwdown Monkey Challenge at the very last minute!  The card has been ready for at least 24 hours but I just haven't taken the time to get it out there....but here it is!

The monkeys are actually a picture frame from Dustin Pike - I love his monkeys, they are my favorite of his characters.  This one came precolored (hooray!) and I layered it with black card stock.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC and is actually popped up with dimensional tape which adds just enough interest that I was happy with the result without adding any further embellies.

Happy Stamping and God's Richest Blessings,

Doodle Pantry FREE Digi Set - TINY TRICERATOPS

Wow!  It's July already?!  Yep, it is!  This week is actually one of my most antcipated weeks of the year, along with Christmas and Easter, because it means a full week off work and that thought keeps me going through the last few months of school.  So, here I am, writing to you on my first full day of vacation....with a cup of coffee and the early morning breeze to keep me company.  I love it!

But that is not what we are here to talk about, is it?  *wink, wink*  My card today is featuring the TINY TRICERATOPS digi set by Doodle Pantry that Laurie is offering absolutley FREE until July 15th. (read on for more details!)

The pre-colored image and sentiment I merged and printed just using Micrsoft Word and the .pgn files from the set.  The designer paper is also included with the set. The card stock is Stampin' Up! and matches the colors perfectly.  The half pearls are from Pizzaz APlenty (I could never get them that uniform with the Viva Pearl Pens and have just about given up on trying!)  Oh, almost forgot, the layout is another Operation Write Home sketch that I can mark off my list for completing in 2012.  It is Sketch #114! (Yay for me!)

So, are you wondering how you can get this awesome set FREE?  Hop on over to the Doodle Pantry blog and download it...then enter your creation in the montly challenge and you may win a shopping spree with Doodle Pantry.  Yep, it's that easy!  Wondering what the whole set looks like?  Here it is.....
