S & S Midweek Throwdown Challenge - Masculine Theme

I'm back on schedule and getting this post done while the challenge is still current!  Hooray!

This week's S & S Midweek Throwdown Challenge is to make a card with a masculine theme either for an adult or child as the recipient.  I had no difficulty with this one at all!  I have had my creative eye turned to the masculine images of the motor vehicle industry frequently lately and knew exactly what image I wanted to use.

Isn't this motorcycle cool?  I first saw it used on a card that Sandy posted on the Operation Write Home website during January.  I did some research and found that it is a digital image available through (believe it or not) Stampin' Up! and is available here.  I have seen this image colored and it looks really nice but for those of you who know my work I am sure you are not at all surprised that I elected to use the monochrome image!

The silver card stock is also from Stampin' Up and I ran it through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder.  The layout and embossing idea was CASEd from this image on SCS (thank you for sharing Shelly923.)

I don't make it a habit to put horizontal words vertically on a card but felt that in this case the sentiment did not detract from the focal image and may even compliment it.  What do you think?  Please leave me a comment :)

Happy Stamping and God Bless.

  1. GREAT guy card! Love that silver paper and also the fantastic image!

  2. Hi Lisa, What a great card! Thanks for the link to be able to buy the digi stamp, I did! I thought I'd sworn off Stampin' Up!, but not if they make digi stamps :) Thanks for playing in our masculine challenge at Operation Write Home!

  3. great card! definitely masculine

  4. This card is awesome! I love that silver paper embossed! I actually like, on this card, the words running vertically. Nicely done!

  5. i love this!! always a sucker for motorcycles! and i like the monochrome!!

  6. Very masculine and nice. I like the monochromatic for this image. Some father will be proud to receive it.

  7. Great card Lisa! I don't have a motorcycle image in my collection so I think this might just be a "must have" for me. Thanks for the link. I agree that it's one that works great in black & white too. Perfect when I am not in a coloring mood!

  8. Hi Lisa, Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog today. You asked about digital papers and changing colors. I think it would be easy to explain if I did a tutorial for you. I learn best by watching and doing :) so I will do that for you.

I need to get through some design team projects before I have time to do the tutorial so please keep checking back :) Thanks for the idea!
