OWH VCMP - Chevron/Zig Zag Card

Operation Write Home is hosting a Virtual Card Making Party this weekend in honor of "President's Day" and everyone is welcome to join in on the fun!

What is a VCMP?  It is where a bunch of us get together "virtually" and make cards for our heroes using themes and challenges that are presented by various OWH bloggers throughout the weekend.  Then we post our creations and link them up to the challenger's blog and then visits the blogs of other card makers to see what they created using the same theme.  Sounds fun, right?  It is!  So head on over and check it out and join in the fun!  Here is the Master Thread with OWH.

Our first challenge turned out to be a BIG challenge for me!  My first card was so awful that I actually had a good laugh, sent a "can you believe how bad this is?" pic to my BFF, and promptly threw it in the trash.  Don't flip your lid, most of it was made from scraps anyway!

My second attempt was considerably better.  I used OWH Sketch #111 (and yes, I am still keeping track of the sketches used because I am determined to complete them all one day!)

The paper is by MME, Summer Splash, and the stamp is by Inkadinkado.  The card stock is all Stampin' Up!  And here is the sketch:

Funny thing is...I just made and posted to Facebook this card a few days ago.  The Chevrons were made by cutting 1" squares in half then adhering (very well) them to the black card stock.  The patterned paper is from Doodle Pantry (Dolphin set.)

Well, on to the next challenge!  Misty has made an adorable digi of our mascot, Ciara, to use!

  1. What great chevron cards! I love them both. That first one has just the perfect sentiment on it. Great going! Isn't this a fun VCMP? :)

  3. You made that Chevron by hand?! Wow, is that ever terrific! I love the black, craft and turquoise together. Don't feel bad about tossing some cards along the way... I do it with at least a few each time I have a crafting session. Sometimes they just are not salvageable into something I would want to put my name on. I think it says a lot that you can look at your work with a critical eye and be honest with yourself. You should be proud of yourself for doing it!

  4. I love your MME paper with that adorable sentiment. Sure glad you didn't give up after your first attempt. Your second card is lovely and taking the time to piece the chevron together makes for a great embellishment. Thanks for playing along in my challenge.
